Froedtert Health posted a loss of $43.5 million in its latest quarter as health care systems in metropolitan Milwaukee and nationwide continue facing a squeeze on their operating margins and losses in their investment portfolios. Nearly all of the Wauwatosa-based health system's financial loss was in non-operating losses generated from its investments, according to a Nov. 28 report to bondholders. Those investment losses totaled $43.4 million. 'Investment losses continue to be driven by the overall performance of the market,' a Froedtert Health spokeswoman said Tuesday night via email.
