As Wisconsin health care systems continue to experience shrinking operating margins, Froedtert Health closed a behavioral health unit at one hospital this month and plans to close the birth center at another hospital on June 1. Froedtert Health, which is based in Wauwatosa, "is proactively adapting to changing market conditions to sustain long-term stability and our steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality patient care," spokeswoman Gerry Steele said Friday via email. The organization's strategies for adapting to the industry's financial headwinds include maximizing resources, reducing expenses and streamlining processes across the organization, Steele said.
