For years, when real estate agent and architectural designer Tammy Herpel advised clients about renovating houses in Wauwatosa, she warned them not to exceed a certain home value. "My caution was always, 'Do not go over a million,'" Herpel said. "That is a glass ceiling in Wauwatosa that has never been broken." That is, until now. In March, Herpel sold a newly renovated house in the city for $1.2 million. It's the first house in Wauwatosa that has ever sold for $1 million or higher, according to Metro MLS, which Herpel believes is good news for homeowners in that community who may now be able to sell their homes for higher prices.
