Mayfair mall owner Brookfield Properties is in talks with officials at the city of Wauwatosa to redevelop the connected former Boston Store property with housing and new retail. The city in July 2022 acquired the Boston Store, which closed in 2018, with the intent of finding a private sector partner to transform the 15-acre property. The property has already been rezoned to encourage a mix of uses beyond traditional enclosed stores that could include housing, for example. The Wauwatosa Common Council on Tuesday is to meet in a confidential, closed session to discuss and potentially approve a development agreement for the Boston Store site with Brookfield Properties, the owner of the bulk of Mayfair mall.
